How Recruiting ACTUALLY Works
Understanding the recruiting process is the first step towards making informed decisions and maximizing your opportunities.
The Recruiting Timeline
Recruiting follows a structured timeline. Understanding when key milestones happen helps you stay prepared and proactive.
FRESHMAN YEAR (9th Grade) - No, you will not be getting recruited in 9th grade, nor will you really be thinking about where you want to go to college. But, 9th grade starts your high school academic clock, and as you will learn in our program, academics will play a key role in your recruitability. You will also want to start building your online profile.
SOPHOMORE YEAR (10th Grade) - This is where you start the process and build a plan. Focus on academics, skill development, and exposure through summer camps, showcase events, and travel baseball.
JUNIOR YEAR (11th Grade) - This is your peak recruiting period. Increase your visibility through showcases, narrow your target list, and maintain consistent communication with coaches.
SENIOR YEAR (12th Grade) - Finalize your decision. Evaluate offers, complete official visits, and sign during your signing period.
Ready To Learn More About How Recruiting Actually Works?
Some of the big box recruiting services will give you a call, try and hook you into setting up a meeting with one of their "recruiting experts". That person will lead you through a series of scripted questions with the sole purpose of creating a panic...a crisis if you will...telling you that you are behind in the recruiting process and that someone of your caliber should be doing this and this.
Then they will show you all their shiny tools and try 3-4 times to get you to buy one of their memberships on the spot...even offering you a "scholarship" where you will get the higher end product for a huge discount.
